Doctor Who

Hello everybody, i hope you all had a nice week. On FOX they show new episodes of Doctor Who and i am the one to mark these days in my calendar and sit with a pillow beneath me at the edge of my sofa and watch. Doctor Who is a phenomen from england because it´s the long lasting series that has survived along 50 years. Lets take a look back. Dr. Who started in 1963 whith its time traveling "Timelord" who traveles through time and space and sometimes with comapany from earth! At first it was not so much a science fiction plot but something educational for kids and for family viewing on the early Saturday evening schedule. Initially the stories set in the past, to taught younger audience members about history or the episodes set either in the future or in outer space to teach them about science. This was also reflected in the Doctor's original companions, one of whom was a science teacher and another a history teacher. So much for the past. In the 80´s there was not so much life in the series, and it stoped 1989 but was suchesfully relaunched 2006. This is so easy done because as a Time Lord, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate his body when near death - easy for new actors to replace old ones.
But every fan of the series has his favorite doctor along the 11 previous actors. I think the first doctor you see is "Your" doctor. I saw the series first with amazing David Tennant and he will always be the doctor for me. My second favorite is Christopher Eccleston who played the ninth doctor and at place three we have Tom Baker as the fouth doctor - known for his long scarf. The new doctor (Matt Smith) is too young for me - i can´t see him as the strong and powerfull person he used to be but that´s the point - for me the 10th doctor can never be replaced. Here some pictures and a link to the official site of the BBC who produces the series.http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/
